This statement describes how I feel as an artist to a T! Photography is where I go to relax, push myself and see beauty in all things and relationships. I look forward to sharing with you sneak peaks of sessions, personal musings and general tidbits of what I hold so near to my heart.
Shona Reid Photography is an award winning photographer located in Ottawa, Ontario. She proudly received a First Place finish in the Child Category (2012) and a Recognition of Merit in the Maternity Category (2011) of the National Association of Professional Child Photographer's (NAPCP) International Image Competition. She is also a proud member of the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).
I gotta admit, I’m a little (a lot) over winter these days, but the warmer temperatures do make for some lovely late winter maternity photos.
Petite Maternity sessions are awesome because they give new parents a chance to get to know me before sleep deprivation takes over 
and we create some lovely memories of this special time to boot!
I can’t wait to photograph their newborn after he makes his way into the world!

Just waiting for this lil’ guy to be born! We had a gorgeous evening to photograph his Mommy and Daddy to be…the golden light made me want to shoot forever. But their frozen fingers made me keep my photographer gloved trigger finger in check!
I can’t wait to meet this little man as he will be my first little guy in a long time…he’s breaking the streak of wee girls!

Um, wow! I am beyond thrilled to announce that out of the thousands of images entered, my image came first in the Children’s Category of the NAPCP January 2012 International Competition!! These are the kind of images that make my heart sing – taking something from the child/family/mother-to-be’s personality and running with it. Add in incredible light and voila! Wow…Friday was a whirlwind day and one that took me by storm…I am absolutely THRILLED to announce that I received a Recognition of Merit from the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) for my maternity image “Pure”!!! The acclaimed panel of judges went through the thousands of photographs from all over the world and scored based on technical merit, creativity and composition, and impact. To be recognized by these incredibly talented judges in an international photography competition is an amazing honour. 2011 has been such a fantastic year and this is just the icing on a rather incredible cake! Thank you NAPCP for the recognition and judges for the vast amount of time it must have taken to sort through and score everything. It is essential for professional growth to receive feedback (both positive and constructive) and all the comments were so beneficial! Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!

…for Chrithmath is my two front teeth!
Yup, both teeth gone in a matter of days and I’m so relieved as she was taking immense pleasure in grossing me out twisting them around and around. In fact, I was teasing her about how she was talking and she even said, “Well, I guess it’s only fair since I bugged you so much with my teeth…Karma, you know!” Yup. 7. Too smart for her own good!
Now my son is trying to pull out his teeth because he wants to get money…poor boy!

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable, fun and willing-to-do-it-all-couple’s maternity session. I knew it was going to be this was because during the consultation process I found out that the baby’s nickname was “Big Mac” due to their last name. The funny part was, Mom-to-be has never had a Big Mac before, but she wanted some images with said food. How fun was that!?
